Book: Killer Body (S)
Killer Body by Bonnie Hearn Hill
When a fitness company's spokesmodel disappears, the competition for her replacement gets vicious. In sunny LA, there's nothing people won't do to be named the next Killer Body. I thought this was a whodunit and kept trying to figure out who had killed the spokesmodel. Once I let that expectation go, I was free to enjoy the sharp characterization and important social commentary this book provides. Everyone here has an agenda, but the real villain is the Imperative To Be Thin. This book pulls no punches when it comes to exploring the cost of that ideal. Recommended! Grade: B+
